刚下班，走至电梯口，忽有电话来，一看，是北京来的，是谁呢？我马上接听，原来是“1号作家”陈玉福先生的。先生故意问我：“你能听出我是谁吗？”我笑着说：“你不就是陈老师吗？”
先生问我，最近的创作情况如何？我说：“今年情况变了，工作比以前忙多了，我根本没时间写。一年来，我几乎放弃了写作，只写些日记之类的东西。”他说：“你曾经答应我坚持下去的，你怎么食言了。你说你没写东西，但我看你博客，你写了好多余秋雨的东西。”
一年前，我确乎答应过陈先生好好创作的，但自去年下半年以来，我的工作比以前忙多了，白天根本没有上网的时间，只有晚上有一点时间，还要辅导孩子作业。另外，我对写作有些失望了，我觉得自己在写作上难以获得成功，尤其不能得到相应的报酬。投入巨大的时间和精力，而得到的微乎其微。从功利的角度上说，写作纯粹就是浪费光阴。与其做些无意义的事，不如好好休息一下。
陈先生曾经许诺，让我坚持写评论和杂文，每天坚持写，一天写上千把字，累积一年，他给我出版，然后他推荐我加入中国作家协会。这个计划不错，可我没有精力完成，只好放弃了。
陈先生说：“人应该有所追求，不能蝇营狗苟。”我说：“先生说得没错，但关键问题是写作不能给我带来直接的经济效益，不像你靠写作吃饭。我主要还是靠工作吃饭，丢掉了工作，一家人的生存就成问题了。”陈先生说：“为什么我一直记着你，就是我觉得你的人品不错。你是一个大写的人，我主要看上你这一点。”
与陈先生聊了半个多小时，他说10月份，他要回兰州，我说：“那我期待你的到来，来了我们好好聊聊。”
